's been running an ad that says so. except it's not true. >> brown: chrysler has said it has no plans to move the jobs. the romney campaign insists it's standing by its claim. there promised to be much more battling over economic policy, with the race in a dead heat and going down to the wire. we look now at the jobs picture with two economists with ties to the presidential candidates: john taylor of stanford university and the hoover institution. he advises the romney campaign on economic issues. and austan goolsbee of the university of chicago's booth school of business. he served as president obama's chairman of the council of economic advisers until last year. to the extent mob set aside the rhetoric of the campaign if you can for a moment, tell us about the bigger picture. what strikes you most, what worries you most about the jobs picture now and in the coming years? >> well, i would say any reputable economist says every month don't just take any one month numbers, try to take a step back and look at the trend that's far more accurate in this. i think if you look at the trend t

misleading and slammed by gm and chrysler. let me play it. >> they're running the most scurrilous ad in ohio. i want you to listen. one of the most flagrantly dishonest ads i can remember in my political career. >> so mark, a spokesperson of gm said it's completely untrue, to su miz the statement here in front of me. but this is about ohio, the ad about ohio and president obama still leads in ohio. >> the pushback you are seeing of general motors as well as chrysler is pretty extraordinary in a presidential campaign with major companies basically say that one campaign is being inaccurate in the tv ads. tamron, this has to do everything with ohio. this has all to do with the auto bailout and a reason president obama is doing better with white voters in ohio than might be in places in the south or battlegrounds like in virginia and florida, has to do with the auto bailout. getting support from a lot of people whose jobs are tied to the auto industry. another thing benefiting president obama has to do with the fact labor and the politics of labor very big flash points in the last couple of year

"the miami herald" reports the romney campaign would not furnish the ad despite repeated requests. in other words, the ad is so outrageous, the romney campaign tried to slip it under the radar. obviously the strategy is backfiring. let's turn to annette taddeo, member of the miami-dade democratic party. annette, great to have you with us tonight. i keep saying the bread basket to victory for president obama is going to be south florida. turnout is to important. but now this spanish language ad that's out, what is this doing to stroke

economic news can have undesirable consequences. this week chrysler will add 1100 workers in detroit. the plant hassed a workers on overtime for months, is now adding a third crew so they can be operational for more hours in the day. it's hard to imagine these new jobs without chrysler and chrysler without the auto rescue. but because the new vehicles, these workers will be making our suvs, so while the comeback is good in the short term, it's only good on for all of us in the long time if the industry goes through a revolution that dramatically increases the efficiency and reduces the emissions of the cars it produces. want to find out what my guests think you should know for the coming week -- >> i think one of the things that a we've been discussing has been there's more drips out of the benghazi situation. there was a cia annex he is that asked for military intervention and were denied three times. unclear whether it was the pentagon, the president. who those. but i think we'll see more drips from that next week and that will continue to hit the headlines. >> we've covered bengha
by michael j murphy. host: more political headlines. here is the free press, gm and chrysler, romney is wrong. republican presidential candidate mitt romney has broadened his attack on a barack obama's auto industry restructuring, implying a general motors used aid to hire more workers in china than the united states. it goes on to say that gm quickly defended its performance and said that romney is wrong on this. and here is the wall street journal on that story. even as mr. romney and mr. obama canceled a political appearances tuesday, the two campaigns -- escalated a heated exchange over mitt romney suggestion that the president also bailout had benefited china. he returned to pennsylvania in hopes of returning the momentum. the story wall street journal goes on to talk about that many have come out including those in the auto industry to say that the governor was wrong on this ad, that he is running in the state of ohio. we will talk about that more in about 10 minutes when reid wilson of the hot line joins us to talk about october surprises and all things campaign 2012. democratic caller

, recent one on auto bail yet which the chrysler selling jeep to the italians who want to start producing jeep ins china. obama administration saying absolutely not true they're shipping jobs overseas. the romney campaign saying it is true they want to start producing jeeps in china and every job created in china is not a job created here in the united states. so the campaign trail governor romney will continue to pure the message of change versus the status quo, saying under his administration real change starts on day one and mocking the president for wanting to create jobs by creating a department of business headed up by a secretary of business. >> i don't happen to think that put being in a new chair in the cabinet room will bring new jobs to the people of america. so we've got a plan instead to do that.
